Republicans '08: Giuliani 44%, McCain 21% |

(angus reid) - Support for Rudy Giuliani increased markedly in the race for the Republican Party’s 2008 presidential nomination, according to a poll by TNS released by the Washington Post and ABC News. 44 per cent of GOP supporters would vote for the former New York City mayor in a United States primary.
Arizona senator John McCain is second with 21 per cent, followed by former House of Representatives speaker Newt Gingrich with 15 per cent, and former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney with two per cent. Support is lower for former Wisconsin governor Tommy Thompson, former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee, former New York governor George Pataki, former Kansas senator Sam Brownback, Texas congressman Ron Paul, and Nebraska senator Chuck Hagel.
