30% Still Approve of the President |

(PollSmoking) - The latest Newsweek Poll has George Bush's approval rating at 30%, down a point since March 1st. On his handling of Iraq, it's even lower at 27%, but that is an improvement from 24% 2 months ago.
After news of possible White House involvement in the firings of eight federal prosecutors, 35% overall say Attorney General Alberto Gonzales should resign, with 32% saying he should stay. Public support remains high among Republicans with 54% saying Gonzales should not step down. Among Democrats it's almost the opposite, with 47% saying Gonzales should resign or be fired.
