Republicans '08: Giuliani 30%, F. Thompson 19% |

(angus reid) - More Republican Party supporters in the United States believe Rudy Giuliani should become their presidential nominee, according to a poll by Opinion Research Corporation released by CNN. 30 per cent of respondents would vote for the former New York City mayor in a 2008 primary, up five points since May.
Actor and former Tennessee senator Fred Thompson is second with 19 per cent, followed by Arizona senator John McCain with 18 per cent, former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney with nine per cent, and former House of Representatives speaker Newt Gingrich with eight per cent. Support is lower for Texas congressman Ron Paul, Kansas senator Sam Brownback, Colorado congressman Tom Tancredo, and former Wisconsin governor Tommy Thompson. Read More
