(angus reid) - Rudy Giuliani is holding on to the top position in the race for the Republican Party’s presidential nomination in the United States, according to a poll by Opinion Dynamics released by Fox News. 34 per cent of respondents would support the New York City mayor in a 2008 primary.
Actor and former Tennessee senator Fred Thompson is second with 22 per cent, followed by Arizona senator John McCain with 16 per cent, and former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney with eight per cent. Support is lower for California congressman Duncan Hunter, former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee, Texas congressman Ron Paul, Kansas senator Sam Brownback, Colorado congressman Tom Tancredo, and Nebraska senator Chuck Hagel.
