Thompson leads in two new polls |

(theleafchronicle) WASHINGTON — Former Tennessee senator Fred Thompson is in first place among the Republican candidates for president, according to two of three new national polls released this week.
A Harris Interactive poll conducted Sept 6-14, the first nine days of Thompson's official candidacy, found Thompson had the support of 32 percent of those who plan to vote in a Republican caucus or primary. Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani was in second with 28 percent. Arizona Sen. John McCain was the choice of 11 percent and former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney 11 percent. Read More
