Thompson Would Keep Tennessee Red in 08

(angus reid) - Republican Fred Thompson would handily carry the Volunteer State in the 2008 United States presidential election, according to a poll by Rasmussen Reports. At least 54 per cent of respondents in Tennessee would vote for the actor and former U.S. senator in head-to-head contests against three prospective Democratic rivals.

Thompson holds a 30-point lead over Illinois senator Barack Obama, a 31-point lead over former North Carolina senator John Edwards, and a 15-point edge over New York senator Hillary Rodham Clinton. In other contests, Rodham Clinton leads former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani by two points, and former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney by six points. Read More
