Kansas Could Stay Red in 2008 Election

(Angus Reid) - Republican John McCain holds a large lead in the Sunflower State, according a poll by Rasmussen Reports. At least 53 per cent of respondents in Kansas would support the Arizona senator in head-to-head United States presidential contests against two prospective Democratic rivals.

McCain holds a 19-point advantage over Illinois senator Barack Obama, and a 14-point lead over New York senator Hillary Rodham Clinton.

In 2004, Republican George W. Bush won the Sunflower State’s six electoral votes, with 62 per cent of the vote. No Democrat has carried Kansas since Lyndon B. Johnson in 1964. Read More
