Both Democrats Surpass 50% in California

(Angus Reid) - Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton is the most popular United States presidential candidate in the Golden State, according to a poll by Rasmussen Reports. 54 per cent of respondents in California would vote for the New York senator in this year’s election, while 35 per cent would back Republican Arizona senator John McCain.

In a separate contest, McCain trails Illinois senator Barack Obama by 14 points.

In 2004, Democrat John Kerry carried the Golden State’s 55 electoral votes, with 55 per cent of all cast ballots. The last Republican to win California in a presidential election was George H. Bush in 1988. Read More
