California Gov.: Schwarzenegger 44%, Angelides 34% |

(angus reid) - Incumbent Arnold Schwarzenegger is the top contender in the Golden State’s gubernatorial race, according to the latest poll by Field. 44 per cent of respondents would vote for Schwarzenegger, while 34 per cent would support Democrat Phil Angelides. A mid-September survey by Datamar gave Schwarzenegger a 13-point edge over Angelides.
Schwarzenegger won California’s recall election in October 2003 with 48.7 per cent of the vote as a Republican. In November 2005, California voters took part in a special election on eight measures. Schwarzenegger actively promoted a "Yes" vote in the initiatives concerning tenure for public teachers, redistricting, and spending, which where defeated. Read More
