Tennessee U.S. Senate: Ford 48%, Corker 43%

(angus reid) - Harold Ford is the top candidate in Tennessee’s election to the United States Senate, according to the latest poll by Rasmussen Reports. 48 per cent of respondents in the Volunteer State would vote for the Democrat, while 43 per cent would support Republican Bob Corker. A mid-September poll by SurveyUSA gave Ford a three-point edge over Corker.

Republican Bill Frist was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 1994, and earned a new six-year term in 2000, defeating Democrat Jeff Clark with 66 per cent of all cast ballots. Frist did not seek re-election this year, and has been mentioned as a possible presidential nominee for the GOP in 2008. Read More
