Tennessee U.S. Senate: Ford 40%, Corker 40%

(angus reid) - There is no clear frontrunner in Tennessee’s election to the United States Senate, according to the latest poll by Zogby International released by Reuters. 40 per cent of respondents in the Volunteer State would vote for Democrat Harold Ford, while 40 per cent would support Republican Bob Corker. An early October survey by Gallup gave Ford a five-point edge over Corker.

Republican Bill Frist was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 1994, and earned a new six-year term in 2000, defeating Democrat Jeff Clark with 66 per cent of all cast ballots. Frist did not seek re-election this year, and has been mentioned as a possible presidential nominee for the GOP in 2008. Read More
