South Carolina Governor: Sanford 58%, Moore 31% |

(angus reid) - Incumbent Mark Sanford could win a new term as governor in South Carolina, according to the latest poll by Clemson University. 58 per cent of respondents in the Palmetto State would vote for Sanford, while 31 per cent would support Democrat Tommy Moore. A late October survey by Rasmussen Reports gave Sanford a 23-point lead over Moore.
Sanford—a Republican—has acted as South Carolina’s governor since January 2003. The former U.S. congressman defeated sitting Democratic governor Jim Hodges in the November 2002 election with 53 per cent of the vote. Read More
