Iowa Ponders White House Options for 2008

(angus reid) - Republican Party supporters in the Hawkeye State place two candidates at the top of the list of United States presidential hopefuls, according to a poll by Research 2000 released by KCCI. 27 per cent of likely GOP caucus voters in Iowa would vote for Arizona senator John McCain, while 26 per cent would support former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani.

Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney is third with nine per cent, followed by former House of Representatives speaker Newt Gingrich with seven per cent. Support is lower for U.S. state secretary Condoleezza Rice, New York governor George Pataki, Florida governor Jeb Bush, Virginia senator George Allen, Kansas senator Sam Brownback and Pennsylvania senator Rick Santorum.
