Giuliani Leads Edwards by Eight Points for 2008 |

(angus reid) - Republican Rudy Giuliani holds an eight-point advantage in a United States presidential contest against Democrat John Edwards, according to a poll by Rasmussen Reports. 49 per cent of respondents would support the former New York City mayor, while 41 per cent would vote for the former North Carolina senator. Giuliani garnered national and international attention in the aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, and has formed a political action committee called Solutions America.
Edwards—who worked as a personal injury trial attorney prior to entering politics—won the 1998 election to the U.S. Senate in North Carolina, defeating Republican incumbent Lauch Faircloth with 51.2 per cent of the vote.
