Most Oppose Bush Plan for More Troops in Iraq

(rasmussen) - As the President made his case for sending more U.S. troops to Iraq, just 31% of American voters support that strategy. A national telephone poll of 800 Likely Voters conducted by Rasmussen Reports found that 56% think that we should be reducing the number of troops in Iraq.

Both figures are up slightly from a similar survey question asked immediately after the November elections. In that earlier survey, 24% favored sending more troops while 52% wanted a reduction in strength.

Even the President’s own party is less than enthusiastic about a surge in troop strength. Fifty-three percent (53%) of the GOP faithful support that approach. Read More
