John Kerry Says He Won't Run in 2008

(bloomberg) - Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts, the Democratic Party's presidential nominee in 2004, said today he won't seek the presidency next year. ``I've concluded this isn't the time for me to mount a presidential campaign,'' Kerry, 63, said in a speech this afternoon in the U.S. Senate.

Kerry said he is determined to use his position in the Senate to force a withdrawal of most U.S. troops from Iraq by next year. ``Congress bears some responsibility for getting us into this war and Congress must take responsibility for getting us out,'' Kerry said today. Read More
